Show report: Burberry autumn/winter 2012

The showroom was buzzing with anticipation at the new collection. In recent years, Burberry has created international appeal from its traditional English sensibility and this season designer Christopher Bailey produced one of his strongest collections yet, full of traditional tweed, corduroy and mac jackets. The genius was in the details, with charmingly eccentric touches like oversized field pockets, umbrellas with animal-head handles, leather bow belts and quilted handbags. This was Victorian country Britain with a gritty, urban London edge.
