Omas 1453 İstanbul'un Fethi (Conquest of Istanbul) limited-edition fountain pen
The Ottoman conquest of Istanbul in 1453 is, doubtless, the defining event in the city's long history. To commemorate this turning point Omas, Italian manufacturer of handcrafted writing instruments since 1925, has created a limited edition fountain pen in conjunction with luxury jewellers Arte Gioia. This bold-yet-elegant pen incorporates silver, plated with yellow gold. The barrel features embossed medallions portraying the city and Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror, while the sultan's imperial signature is engraved on the cap. The base is modelled after the dome of Hagia Sophia, one of Istanbul's most famous landmarks.
