Munich's top five spas: City Guide

Grooming and fitness are a way of life in Munich; Germany’s most upscale city is a hub for high-end relaxation, wellness and beauty. The women here love to look polished – this selection of five of the city’s top spas will add sparkle and shine to any day

Aiyasha Spa

Although the Aiyasha Spa is located in Munich’s chic Opera House, the five elegantly designed treatment rooms are modelled on Asia’s refined wellness centres. Dermatologists Dr Schoppelrey, Dr Duve and Dr Niederdorfer create a lusciously restful environment in the spa’s minimalist interior. The combination of richly hued dark hardwoods, exotic Balinese flowers, natural Italian stone and pure gold detailing generates an atmosphere of serenity. Along with traditional Asian massage, detox and yoga treatments, the spa offers progressive professional medical work including skin checks, anti-cellulite therapy and aesthetic beauty aids. Aiyasha is an ideal meeting of East and West.

This high-end spa rightly claims to be the crowning glory of the luxurious Bayerischer Hof Hotel. Situated on the roof of the classic edifice, architect Andrée Putman’s opulent pool and open glass ceiling overlook breathtaking views of the stunning city. Treatments include award-winning masks, scrubs, shiatsu, ayurvedic and hot stone massage.

The Just Pure store is designed around a rustic handmade bed, where soothing and natural products are artfully arranged. The treatments, available here without appointment, express a similar aesthetic sensibility where grace and beauty are appreciated.

Auszeit Spa

The enchanting Auszeit Spa focuses on pre- and post-natal massage treatments and natural beauty techniques such as sugaring and other ancient rituals. Treatments hark back to the classical era and the spa’s best features are the aromatic baths, designed in the Roman tradition. After a massage to expel toxins and warm the muscles, visitors can sample a range of these beautifying baths. The fragrant honey and milk baths soften skin and sooth tired nerves, while sea salt scrubs are invigorating and restorative. All treatments leave clients warm, relaxed and ready to return to Munich’s high-energy daily routine.
