Esprit concept store, Cologne
Esprit’s first German store opened in Cologne in 1986 and now, over 25 years later, the company has returned to the city to pioneer its new concept stores. The recently opened Cologne store aims to provide a relaxing, friendly environment away from the hustle and bustle of Cologne’s busy Ehrenstrasse shopping street; there is even a garden where shoppers can relax. Details around the store, such as the snapshots on display in the changing rooms and the Californian plants in the conservatory, pay homage to Esprit’s Californian beginnings. Designed by Düsseldorf architects Reich und Wamser, the store resembles a modern, feminine, cosy urban loft due to the mix of wood, brick and concrete and the homely furniture. While you are browsing Esprit’s latest collections, don’t miss the selection of local products available in the store, including retro Eisenherz bicycles.
